Business Development Manager - Nuclear Services & Technology

 

 

Introduction

Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced business development professional for our Nuclear Services and Technology (NST) Business Unit (BU). This position will replace an existing employee who is retiring. The successful candidate will work alongside and train under this individual for 12 – 18 months.

This position is responsible for the acquisition of new business. In this role, the BD Manager works jointly with the BU Lead.  Using the annual business plan developed by the BU Lead, the BD Manager develops and implements strategies / tactics for identifying clients and opportunities.  The BD Lead executes business development activities such as market research, market positioning, networking, relationship development, proposal development, teaming and negotiations that lead to contracts with these clients.  The BD Manager also coordinates and cooperates with other Merrick business units to identify joint pursuits that utilize skillsets across the Merrick enterprise.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Technical or scientific degree preferred.
  • PE, PMP, CPSM, or other relevant technical and marketing certifications preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) years in marketing and business development in the Engineering or Construction industry is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in any or all of the following markets is strongly preferred:
    • National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
    • Department of Energy (DOE) including -EM, -NE, -OS and -HQ
    • Medical Isotopes
    • Nuclear Power
    • Nuclear R&D
  • Demonstrated ability in:
    • Development and implementation of Strategic Marketing and Business Development Plans
    • Identifying target markets and clients
    • Lead generation and pipeline development
    • Proposal management and capture management
    • Winning contracts
  • Must be able to demonstrate a long-term successful record of business development for A-E firms similar in size and services to Merrick, understanding and communicating the competitive environments of each market, managing pursuit of complex and larger engineering design efforts, and demonstrating skills for effectively working in multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • The successful candidate will utilize strong interpersonal skills with an optimistic approach to interface successfully with clients and internal personnel
  • Proactive desire and ability to travel an average of twice per month.
  • Strong proficiency in MSOffice Suite, MS Project and CRM software, preferably Cosential
  • International experience desirable.
