    Fire Protection Drafter/Designer

     

    Introduction

     

    Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Drafter/Designer to support facility fire protection design. The position will be based out of Merrick’s Oak Ridge, TN office but may provide project support to Merrick projects located in other offices.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Attend meetings and work closely with the project team
    • Assist client in performing drawing research and locating existing design drawings which show existing field conditions
    • Perform design drawing updates to reflect as-built configuration

    Required Experience

    • The Drafter/Designer must be proficient in:
      • Microstation CAD,
      • fire protection design and installation according to NFPA 13, and 
      • NICET level 3 certification for Water Based Fire Protection Systems.
    • Experience in NQA-1 design is preferred.

    Other Requirements

    • Client projects for this position require US citizenship.
    • DOE Q clearance desired but not required, but with ability to obtain clearance.

    Physical Requirements 

    • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
    • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
    • Occasional travel to client facilities and project sites require ability to climb ladders, inspect and be physically mobile in and around client construction sites.

    Work Environment

     

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, plotters, and scanners.
