    Expense Accountant 




    Merrick & Company is seeking an Expense Accountant in our Greenwood Village, CO location. This is a fast-paced, detailed function with an opportunity to interact with all levels of the company.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Process Employee Expense Reports
      • Review weekly expense reports submitted by employees
        • Maintain expense report compliance with company internal company policies and government contracting requirements (FAR and DCAA)
        • Ensure appropriate approvals are received
        • Ensure required backup is provided
        • Become knowledgeable in the proper coding of transactions for appropriate tax and government reporting
        • Work with employees and managers to resolve items on expense reports so they may be paid and meet company policies
        • Prepare weekly payment proces
    • Other Duties
      • Demonstrate competence in various accounting software applications such as BST Enterprise
      • Ability to read and interpret various types of documentation
      • Must be able to articulate and write clear, concise, and informed communications to staff members, operational employees, and senior management in person, via email, and in group settings
      • Attention to detail and accuracy
      • Mathematical Skills:
        • Ability to calculate and analyze numerical data such as: discounts, interest rate, excel functions, and percentages
        • Basic algebraic computation is required
      • Computer Skills:
        • Must have a high level of computer literacy
        • Proven ability to learn new systems quickly
      • Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality
      • Prior experience in an Architecture or Engineering firm is highly preferred    


    • Two (2) year associates in accounting/business related field or comparable experience required.

    Work Environment: 

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
