    LiDAR/Geomatics Intern


    Position to be in our Anchorage, AK office. This position will be as a temporary intern position for six (6) months.



    Merrick & Company is seeking LiDAR/Geomatics Technicians for our Anchorage office. Responsibilities will require that the candidate have strong computer skills, be a quick learner, and be able to handle daily, repetitive, computer based tasks.


    Job Description

    • Primary responsibilities of this individual(s) will be to:
      • Manually filter aerial LiDAR point cloud data
      • Digitize breaklines from LiDAR and/or aerial imagery to enhance digital terrain models
      • Compile planimetric features in a variety of LiDAR and/or GIS software packages
      • Perform orthophoto edits
    • The candidate must have strong dedication to quality and efficiency to succeed in this position.

    Education and Experience

    •  An ideal candidate will have:
      • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
      • LiDAR, mapping, GIS, CAD, and/or survey experience is desirable
      • Be local to the Anchorage, AK office
    • Additional Skills and Aptitude

      • Basic data management skills
      • Strong computer skills
      • Good communication both written and verbal
      • Able to work in a team environment or as an individual
      • Obligation to produce high quality work
      • Adapt to multiple production task – cross trainable
      • Able to work effectively with repetitive, computer based tasks
      • Good organizational skills
      • Positive attitude and willing to expand their knowledge in the Geomatics field
      • Able to work well when directed by management in another location
      • Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality

    Physical Requirements

    • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, scanners and plotters.
