    Sr. Water Project Engineer I – Water/Wastewater Treatment

     

    Introduction

    Merrick & Company is seeking a Senior Engineer to be a key collaborative member of our growing water and wastewater treatment team. The position will require visioning and business planning along with project execution. The position would be primarily focused on our Colorado operations working with and leading our water and wastewater treatment team in our three Water offices in the DTC, downtown Denver and Loveland.

     

    Job Description

    • Must be capable of directing and managing a multi-discipline team of design engineers or technicians on water and wastewater treatment projects.
    • Must have demonstrated success in Business Development, Project Management and demonstrated skills in leading project teams. 
    • Prepares and oversees fee proposals for water and wastewater design work.
    • Perform assignments in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including advanced treatment/nutrient removal processes. 
    • Must be capable of performing independent design tasks; reviewing the designs of others; preparing bid documents, including drawings and specifications; and organizing all drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables.   
    • The successful candidate must possess good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with clients and Local, State, and Federal government agencies and be capable to lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communications.  

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School. Masters Degree preferred.
    • Twenty (20) years of experience in the design and construction oversight of water and wastewater treatment facilities and projects.
    • Local candidates preferred
    • E. (Professional Engineer) State of Colorado required
    • Experience with any of the following is a plus:

    o  Advanced treatment and nutrient removal process design.

    o   Industrial waste treatment.

    o   Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, GIS Systems and Programs.

    o   Public works design experience with Local, State and Federal governments.

    • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.

    • Occasional travel to client facilities and project sites require ability to climb ladders, inspect without entering manholes and vaults and be physically mobile in and around water and wastewater facilities, as well as being able to open gates, doors, vaults and manhole lids.

     

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, scanners and plotters.
