    Mechanical Equipment Designer I

     

    Introduction

    Merrick & Company is looking for Mechanical Equipment Designer I to join a team of engineering and design personnel serving the Nuclear Services & Technology Business Unit in our project office in Greenwood Village, CO. This group specializes in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment and custom-designed, remotely-operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials.

     

    Job Description

    Mechanical Equipment Designer I will work directly with small teams to produce 3D models, drawings and fabrication packages of custom equipment with direction from the project engineer. Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hot cells, cleanrooms), material handling equipment, small scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, rolling machines) and pressure vessels.

     

    Scope/Key Responsibilities

    Detailed design activities include preparation of component, subassembly and main assembly Creo (Pro/E) models; creating detailed fabrication drawing packages; creating detailed Bills of Materials and completing equipment datasheets. Establishes model structure and drawing tree architecture for distinct deliverables and is responsible for establishing and maintaining file naming conventions and Windchill folders. Design activities are conducted following regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures.

     

    Required Experience

    • Degree Requirements: Associates Degree or Technical College Certification required if no previous experience OR
    • A minimum of one (1) year experience in related field
    • Must demonstrate basic knowledge of or aptitude for Pro/E Wildfire and Windchill.
    • Familiarity with other 3D systems (CATIA, SolidWorks or equal), 2D software (AutoCAD preferred) and Autodesk Revit a plus.
    • Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, equipment datasheets and design record documents.
    • Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments a plus. Hands-on experience with our typical equipment a plus.
    • Degree Requirements   Associates Degree
    • US Citizenship required.
    • Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance.
    • Local candidates preferred.
