    Mechanical Equipment Engineer I

     

    Introduction

    Merrick & Company is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer to join a team of engineering and design personnel serving the Nuclear Services & Technology Business Unit in our project office in Greenwood Village, CO. This group specializes in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment and custom-designed, remotely-operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials.

     

    Job Description

    The Mechanical engineer will perform detailed design and analysis of custom equipment, individually and as part of design team. Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hot cells, cleanrooms), material handling equipment, small scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, rolling machines) and pressure vessels.

    Scope/Key Responsibilities

    Learn and follow regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures.  Detailed design activities include 3-D modeling and preparation of fabrication drawing packages, equipment datasheets, fabrication specifications, procurement specifications, engineering studies, test plans, and detailed equipment sizing & qualification calculations under the supervision of more senior engineers.

     

    Required Experience Minimum of one (1) year mechanical design engineering experience.

    • Exposure to 3D design software – CREO (preferred), Pro/E or SolidWorks.
    • Familiarity with MathCAD and MS Access a plus.
    • Bachelor of Sciences degree in Engineering required from an ABET Accredited Program.
    • Engineering Technology degree will not be considered.
    • Fundamentals of Engineer / Engineer in Training certification is strongly preferred
    • Candidate will be expected to obtain a PE license.
    • US Citizenship required.
    • Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance.
    • Local candidate preferred.
