Sr. Mechanical Equipment Designer II
Merrick & Company is looking for a very experienced Mechanical Equipment Designer for our Oak Ridge, TN project office to work on technology projects for the Department of Energy (DOE). This office specializes in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hoods, specialty research equipment and custom-designed, remotely-operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials. Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
Mechanical designer produces 3D models, drawings and fabrication packages of custom equipment, nuclear glovebox utility systems, process piping as part of a design team. Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hoods, cleanrooms), material handling equipment, small scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, break presses) and pressure vessels.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, scanners, and plotters.
May be required to travel to other office locations. May be required to travel to client facilities or fabrication and manufacturing facilities.
