Merrick & Company is seeking a Construction Inspector with experience in design and construction engineering of various utilities including water and sewer pipelines, drainage, land development, and civil infrastructure projects to join our Denver, Colorado office. This is a temporary employee position and benefits are not provided. There is the potential for this position to become Full Time. 100% field work.
The Construction Engineer works for a project manager and/or project engineer as the civil designer and to perform constructability reviews of designs and construction drawings. This position would also provide construction administration and observation services for various utilities, including water and sewer pipelines, water and wastewater treatment plants, other water or wastewater facilities, drainage structures and facilities and includes the ability to self-perform said services, and to proficiently manage and schedule other engineers, designers, and construction observation personnel. Interface with clients, subconsultants and contractors during the performance of said duties is also required.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in civil design and construction management of water and wastewater projects and other construction experience.
Water and wastewater experience is preferred.
AutoCAD C3D drafting skills is preferred.
Bachelor of Sciences degree in Construction Management preferred.
Observing, reviewing, monitoring or otherwise addressing the appropriateness, performance and timeliness of construction related work performed under the contract or as specified by client.
Knowledge and understanding of project documents, including contract documents and technical specifications.
Role as owner’s representative during the construction phase.
Development and maintenance of project data and files, including record documents, correspondence, RFIs, change order requests, pay requests, shop drawings, etc.

Able to climb ladders or walk into/access safe utility trenches
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Comfortably climb or descend short hills by foot and walk/stand on uneven ground

Position will require occasion trips to client sites, including large central power stations, renewable generation sites, advanced biotech and chemical plants, refineries and other industrial facilities.
Candidate must be willing and able to take and comply with various safety requirements and work in noisy environments while executing their assigned tasks.
