    Electrical Engineer




    Merrick & Company is looking for an electrical engineer to support Merrick's Kanata, Ontario, Canada office. This position requires an individual who works well with other discipline engineers/architects and who is strong in all aspects of electrical design for new facilities and building renovations. The position requires teamwork skills to effectively interact with other Merrick electrical engineers located in Kanata and at remote offices to support the overall electrical design demand. Experience with the design of laboratories is an asset.


    The candidate must be able to develop electrical designs, feasibility studies, and conceptual reports and have the following experience:

    • Two to five years related experience is preferred
    • Must be familiar with building service design which will include tasks such as:

    o   Normal and emergency power distribution

    o   Lighting and associated control system

    o   Security and access control systems

    o   Public address systems

    o   Data/communications

    o   Fire alarm systems

    o   Site utilities.

    • Experience with REVIT and AutoCAD based drawing generation
    • Experience with applying Canadian electrical safety code and Canadian building code
    • Experience with SKM Power Tools or ETAP electrical design packages is a plus
    • Experience with AGI32 or ElumTools lighting design software is a plus
    • Will require direct contact with clients, perform site survey and assist in development of proposals and marketing.

    • Currently registered with PEO as EIT or capable of immediate registration.Candidate is expected to attain P.Eng status at earliest opportunity 
    • Have, or be able to rapidly acquire, Government of Canada security clearance at the Secret level or higher



    Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) in Electrical Engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation board (CEAB)-accredited program
