    Piping Designer I - Contract


    Merrick is seeking a Piping Designer with up to three years of refinery process piping design experience. Merrick is considering recent graduates.


    This position is located in Great Falls, MT.


    The duration on-site in Montana is 7 months. Upon completion of the on-site assignment, the employee may be relocated to one of Merrick’s office locations.


    • 3D modeling of equipment and piping systems using AutoCAD & CADWorx.
    • Creating PFDs and smart P&IDs using AutoCAD & CADWorx.
    • Development of equipment location drawings, detailed piping drawings, and isometric drawings.
    • Checking isometric drawings for compliance with drafting standards.
    • Checking isometric drawings for compliance with design basis documents.
    • Verifying 3-D modeling in CADWorx
    • Obtaining and verify piping information from the field.

    Required Skills

    • Familiar with designing and developing process piping systems.
    • Proficient with AutoCAD 2011 or newer.
    • Proficient with CADWorx Plant Professional and P&ID Professional 2011 or newer.
    • Knowledge of ISOGEN 2011 or newer.
    • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design teams.
    • Knowledge or experience in the use of national standards including ASME B31.3.
    • Ability to read Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Associates Degree – Drafting/Design, or Technical College Certification or Equivalent Experience.

    Desired Skills

    • Experience walking down piping systems and creating piping isometric sketches in the field.
    • Knowledge or experience in the use of ASME B31.1.
    • Proficient with Navisworks.

    Physical Requirements

    • This position requires the ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
    • This position requires physical mobility around job sites (i.e. uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and ladders, etc.).

    Work Environment

    Office environment: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and plotters.

    On-site environment: This position is located at the clients’ operating facility which is a heavy industrial process plant.
