    Electrical Engineer II


    Merrick & Company is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer II for our Greenwood Village (Denver Metro), CO office.

    Job Description

    Engineer will design solutions for a variety of complex technical problems in the electrical engineering discipline. Design involves electrical distribution in facility/industrial complex utilizing 15kV medium voltage incoming source and building distribution through 208V. Leading design efforts in: lighting, lighting control, unit substations, motor control centers, switchgears, switchboards, panelboards, automatic transfer switches, uninterruptable power supplies, diesel power generation, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and grounding, overcurrent protection, selective coordination, coordinated power system protection, fire alarm, intrusion detection, telecommunication, CATV, and ESS.


    Engineer will independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge to evaluate, select, and apply procedures and criteria to perform tasks and sequences of tasks. Engineer will lead other discipline engineers, project managers, and stakeholders. Engineer will lead in team meetings, prepare reports, calculations, and presentations utilizing extensive research and organized documentation as basis.

    Required Experience

    • Working knowledge and application of industry design standards including BICSI, TIA/EIA, TEMPEST / NSTISSAM, and National Electric Code
    • Working knowledge of government design standards including Department of Defense Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and Engineering Technical Letters (ETL)
    • Excellent writing and communication skills with the capability for generating technical report and design guides
    • Capability to design layouts, details, and integration for facility security systems including access control, intrusion detection, public address / mass notification, and closed circuit television
    • Experience with Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DoD), and other government entity design procedures are a plus
    • Five (5) or more years of electrical engineering experience using REVIT and AutoCAD based drawing generation
    • Five (5) or more years of experience with project specifications
    • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, or Engineering Technology from an A.B.E.T. accredited college is required
    • Must have experience with:
      • 3-D modeling (preferably SmartPlant 3-D), SmartSketch, AutoCAD
      • Equipment sizing, cable sizing, cable tray / raceway fill calculations
      • UPS/DC Load calculations
      • Communications systems (PA, CCTV, Telecom)
      • Equipment control schematics and wiring diagrams
      • Heat tracing (freeze protection)
      • Power distribution for P&ID and HVAC system requirements
      • Electrical grounding and cable routing
    • Candidate must be enthusiastic and willing to work as a team to ensure projects are successful
    • Client project requirements for this position:
      • Require sole U.S. Citizenship
