    Electrical Engineer II – Facility Design



    Merrick & Company is looking for an Electrical Engineer II for our Merritt Island, FL office, supporting our High Performance Facility (HPF) business unit.  This office specializes in the design of facilities and related power systems for Government clients. Work assignments include electrical design for power generation, facilities, renovations, research labs, multi-purpose buildings, and electrical systems.  Client projects for this position require Sole U.S. Citizenship.



    Job Description

    Work involves facility design, site power design, and power analysis/studies. This position requires excellent communication skills for critical facility electrical design.  Project work involves a variety of activities including conceptual and detailed design of low voltage (1000V and lower) power distribution, medium voltage (up to 15kV) power distribution, power generation systems (backup power and prime power), grounding and lightning protection systems, and motor control systems.  Additionally, experience with facility lighting systems and control, voice/data communication cabling systems, access control and security systems is desired.  Experience with medium voltage (1000V up to 15kV) is desired.  Work also includes developing specifications, field investigations and construction support. Perform engineering and design assignments with minimal direction. Exercise independent design and engineering judgment with collaboration from senior engineers. Knowledge of BIM (especially REVIT) and AutoCAD is highly desired.  Must be able to work in a team of supporting electrical engineers and designers to execute design projects. This person should have knowledge on electrical regulatory codes and be highly skilled in facility electrical systems design.  This position primarily supports projects for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and United States Department of Defense (DoD).


    Required Experience

    • Eight (6) years of experience in Electrical Engineering design, minimum. Preferably NASA and/or DOD government work is desired.
    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering.
    • Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited program is required.
    • REVIT/AutoCAD or other design software based drawing generation is highly desired
    • Experience using electrical calculation tools, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, and EasyPower.
    • Working knowledge of NFPA, IBC, ICC, NEC, ISA, and IEEE Regulatory Codes is required
    • Working knowledge of NASA and / or DOD design guides is desired
    • Facilities electrical design experience is required
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel and Word is required
    • Relocation assistance would be considered / Local candidates preferred


    Physical Requirements

    • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
    • Ability to travel 5-10 days two to three times a year.
    • Ability to travel 1 days to the NASA space center site several times a year.
