Process & Piping Designer

 

Introduction

We are building a large Process team for a new long term project and are seeking an experienced piping designer with a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a piping designer to join our Los Alamos, NM office. 

 

This position is located in Los Alamos, a small community located in the scenic high desert of Northern New Mexico. Los Alamos offers access to a wealth of outdoor activities, a family-friendly community, an excellent public school system and a low crime rate. Job Description

This person is responsible for the system designs of glovebox utility systems piping installations. Responsibilities include generation of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), preparation of 3D modeling of equipment and piping systems, development of detailed isometric drawings from the 3D model, and equipment location drawings. The designer will utilize Autodesk Revit and CADWorx P&ID to develop engineering drawings. Working in a multi-disciplinary team, the designer will be responsible for generating designs to meet exacting technical standards.

Required Skills:

  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of experience.
  • Background in the development of piping systems.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Experience in industrial piping design creating piping plans, elevations, and isometric details.
  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
  • Candidate must be capable of obtaining a DOE Q clearance.
  • Local candidates preferred. / Relocation will be considered. 

Preferred Skills:

  • Autodesk Revit experience designing piping systems.
  • Knowledge or experience in the use of national standards including ASME B31.
  • CADWorx experience creating intelligent P&ID’s, models and components.
  • Experience in DOE nuclear projects, particularly glovebox installation and B31 piping is a big plus.

  • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
