Mechanical Piping Designer    Introduction Merrick & Company is looking to add a Mechanical Piping Designer to our current team of designers. We are seeking a Designer to support various long term projects that start immediately at our Greenwood Village, Co office. The ideal candidates will have a passion for nuclear related design and problem solving.   Job Description The Mechanical Piping Designer will be responsible for the design of the mechanical piping systems, complying with piping standards and accepted industry practices.   Responsibilities include preparation of 3D modeling of equipment and piping systems and development of detailed isometric drawings from the 3D model and equipment layout drawings.   The designer will utilize CREO to design engineering drawings. The designer will generate mechanical and piping deliverables, taking direction from other disciplines. Mechanical Facilities Engineer III    Introduction Merrick is seeking an experienced Mechanical Facilities Engineer to provide HVAC and Plumbing design for our High Performance Facility (HPF) team.  This team specializes in the design of facilities for a wide variety of Government clients.  This position can be based in either our Decatur, GA, San Antonio, TX or Merritt Island, FL office.  Candidates local to each office are preferred.    Job Description The engineer will design HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems for a variety of facility projects. Work typically includes support of project proposals; design calculations; developing process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and sequences of operations; selection and layout of mechanical equipment and associated duct and piping systems; and developing mechanical construction and equipment specifications, test and inspection plans, and system design descriptions. The engineer will typically work in a design team environment consisting of a project manager, project engineer, and multi-discipline architectural and engineering staff to produce project design packages of drawings, specifications, and calculations.     Periodic travel to other Merrick offices or project site locations may be required.   Primary Duties and Responsibilities - Supports development of project proposals. Develops scopes and budget estimates for mechanical discipline work. Assists in development of project schedules. - Will provide HVAC and Plumbing design for High Performance Facilities. - Responsible for planning, conducting and coordinating detailed phases of design work. - Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features. - Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments. - Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects. - Receives guidance when necessary on unconventional and/or complex problems, direction on modified techniques and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. - Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with engineers, designers, and administrative staff. - Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignment. - Presents design reviews to clients. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree (B. Part time efforts will be devoted to site inspection and construction administration. This position is primarily a production role and will be part of a design team environment.   Required Experience: - Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) / Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an A.B.E.T. This position will be located in one of the following offices: San Antonio, TX or from a home office in the Las Vegas, NV area.   Successful candidates must be self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, and confident in a demanding, exciting and fast-paced environment.  The Interior Designer will be responsible for all phases of interior design production for a variety of Federal work ranging from programming through construction administration.    Job Description: - The Interior Designer will be responsible for handling major design decisions, involving spatial, aesthetic elements, detailing of materials and coordination of building systems. - This person will manage multiple projects of various scales and must demonstrate skills in a multi-disciplinary team environment. - The Interior Designer will perform building code reviews and write reports such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and recommendations. - This position will work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. - The Interior Designer will meet with clients to prepare and/or validate the proposed scope of work and will be responsible for project cost control. - This person will be expected to develop innovative interior architectural design concepts that are practical, conducive to the intended purpose or function, will be adept at addressing client goals while staying within project budget. This position requires excellent communication skills for critical facility electrical design.  Project work involves a variety of activities including conceptual and detailed design of low voltage (1000V and lower) power distribution, medium voltage (up to 15kV) power distribution, power generation systems (backup power and prime power), grounding and lightning protection systems, lighting systems, and motor control systems.  Additionally, experience with facility voice/data communication cabling systems, fire alarm, security access control and security systems are desired.  Experience with medium voltage (1000V up to 15kV) is desired.  Work also includes developing specifications, field investigations and construction support.
