Civil Water Engineer III - Surface Water/Urban Stormwater Engineering    Introduction Merrick & Company is seeking a Civil Engineer III in our Surface Water/Urban Stormwater Engineering Infrastructure team. The designer will generate process, mechanical and piping deliverables, taking direction from all these disciplines. Working in a multi-disciplinary team, the designer will be responsible for generating designs to meet exacting technical standards.   Required Skills: - AutoCAD proficiency. - Must have a minimum of four (4) years of experience. - Background in the development of piping systems. - Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design teams. - Experience in industrial piping design and proficiency using 3D design Autodesk Revit. Electrical Engineer - Currently registered with PEO as a P.Eng.    Introduction Merrick & Company is looking for an electrical engineer to support Merrick's Kanata, Ontario, Canada office. This position requires an individual who works well with other discipline engineers/architects and who is strong in all aspects of electrical design for new facilities and building renovations. WATER/WASTEWATER DIVISION MANAGER     INTRODUCTION Merrick is a mid-sized multi-discipline, employee owned consulting engineering firm.  The Company’s long-range plan is to maintain a high-tech water & wastewater specialty division.  The primary water/wastewater group office is in Denver, Colorado.  Other Merrick offices outside of Colorado which offer water/wastewater services include San Antonio, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina.   The Division Manager’s role will involve leadership of the water & wastewater division.  The primary focus will include management and quality control at the Denver office, but will also extend to other Merrick offices and markets promoting and providing solutions to water and wastewater problems.   It is Merrick’s intention to provide comprehensive services – from conceptual planning through the final design and construction phases – all to incorporate engineering excellence.   JOB DESCRIPTION  - Directly supervise group (team) leaders. Managing, with team leaders, the team’s marketing program and project assignments to attain high quality products. - Monitor and evaluate Group and Team Leaders within the water/wastewater division. Provide advice and leadership as needed to attain both quality and profitability goals. - Provide, or obtain, the expertise required for each specialty project to obtain high-quality results. Quality control responsibility for all office production. - Manage/organize the office for efficiency, e.g. make sure right professional(s) are assigned to specific jobs; appropriate standard contract documents/specifications are available; provide practical educational seminars, etc. Some hands-on direct participation is expected. - Supervise/assist with Marketing and BD Program. BIM/CAD Specialist - NST   Introduction The BIM/CAD Specialist oversees the successful implementation of BIM/CAD, Technology and related processes and serve as an expert resource to project teams during all phases of the project. The BIM/CAD Specialist will assist in developing BIM/CAD strategies for proposals. They help lead the development of models and are involved in training efforts related to technology. The BIM/CAD Specialist ensures project success through monitoring the progress of BIM and CAD workflows, serving as the liaison between Merrick, the client, end user, and designers (engineering). The top priority of the BIM/CAD Specialist is ensuring that our team is meeting the client's needs and expectations for implementing BIM, CAD and technology.   This position can be located in either our Los Alamos, NM or Greenwood Village (Denver Metro), CO offices.   Requirements - Client projects for this position require U.S. citizenship - Minimum of ten (10) years of experience working in a Mechanical Equipment or Building Information Modeling (BIM) platform for an A/E or Construction firm and extensive knowledge in CREO, CADWorx, Autocad and/or Autodesk REVIT. - Ability to perform Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural system review, coordination and resolution (Clash Detection). - Contractibility experience of “how systems comes together”. - Experienced and familiar with team-based delivery, contracting and the design-build process. - Demonstrates levels of proficiency or knowledge in the following software: CREO, CADWorx, Navisworks Manage, Revit, AutoCAD, Blue Beam, other related software. - Excellent communication and report writing skills. - Must be able to travel up to 25%. This position will operate out of Tulsa, OK with the potential for short trips to the project site.   Scope/Key Responsibilities - Application of Knowledge in Oil, Gas & Chemical facilities/systems (Conceptual Design): - Ensures understanding and compliance with owner’s requirements of the facility or corporate standards related to mechanical design. - Confirms and reviews applicable codes and standards such as, but not limited to, IBC, ASME, API, PIP and NFPA. - Given the scope of design services, the owner’s facility standards, and relevant industry standards, establish and document the mechanical systems basis of design and in doing so provide clarification, qualifications and design assumptions regarding relevant design issues. - Works with facility owner to ensure that the appropriate cost- effective systems and equipment are utilized in their facility. - Works with owner and construction management team to validate construction cost and provide value-engineering options as necessary. - Design: - Performs and documents engineering calculations related to mechanical engineering for the purpose of selecting code compliant systems and equipment. - Performs systems and equipment selections. - Performs sizing of equipment. - Provides input to piping group related to mechanical equipment and in doing so establishes the appropriate level of detail to ensure completeness and accuracy of design and construction cost. - Schedules mechanical equipment data sheet and specification reviews. - Ensures project specifications are complete and accurate. - Performs pipe stress analysis utilizing software such as CAESAR II, NozzlePro, etc. - Works with the project team to design a cohesive, technically acceptable, and optimized piping system. - Performs pressure vessel calculations utilizing the PVElite software. - Performs detailed reviews of piping isometrics, piping plans, pipe specifications, P&IDs, and other design documents. - Construction Support: - Responsible for problem solving for field oversights. - Responsible for vendor drawing/Submittal review. - Performs field inspections and review of reports. - Responsible for addressing project RFI. - Project Management (Engineering): - Supervision of the mechanical staff assigned to the projects. - Ensuring project staff utilization. - Overseeing the work performed by the assigned mechanical staff. - Prepares engineering man-hour estimates for assigned projects. - Profitability: - Completes project within provided budget and prepares Change Orders when scope is expanded. - Planning/Scheduling: - Provides direction for what is to be included in bid package issue. - Works with Project Engineer/Manager to ensure that project schedule will be met and complete documents provided for each deliverable. - Professional Development: - Maintains required licensing CEU. - Proactively attempts to receive in-house/out-of-house training to maintain and update skills. - Leadership: - Manages assigned staff on the projects. - Provides mentoring of assigned staff. Required Experience - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited program required. - Experience working successfully in a collaborative environment. - 20+ years industry experience. - Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain your PE within the first year of employment. - Experience with Design/Build and EPC projects. Sr Mechanical Equipment Designer   Introduction Merrick is seeking a Senior Mechanical Equipment Designer to join a team of engineering and design personnel serving the High Performance Facilities Business Unit in order to support NASA and other federal and aerospace projects for our growing new office in Merritt Island, FL. This dynamic multi-discipline engineering group specializes in the design of facilities and Ground Support Equipment in support of the aerospace industry.   Job Description - Senior Mechanical Equipment Designer works directly with and organizes small teams to produce 3D models, drawings and fabrication packages of custom equipment, independently and with direction from the project engineer. - This individual will be designing Aerospace Ground Support (GSE) equipment, prototype/one-off custom equipment, specialty research equipment and custom-designed mechanisms and managing multiple tasks. Tasks include the design of material handling systems, test stands and articulating structures, tooling design, equipment integration and installation.   Scope/Key Responsibility Detailed design activities include preparation of component, subassembly and main assembly Creo (Pro/E) models; creating detailed fabrication drawing packages; evaluating and selecting purchased components; creating detailed Bills of Materials and completing equipment datasheets. Establishes model structure and drawing tree architecture for distinct deliverables and is responsible for establishing and maintaining file naming conventions and Windchill folders. Directs the activities of less experienced team members to produce final product. Provides checking support for deliverables. Design activities are conducted following regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures.    Required Experience - Degree Requirements: Associates Degree or Technical College Certification required. - Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in related field required. - US Citizenship Required. - Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance. - Must demonstrate expert proficiency with Creo (Pro/E) and Windchill. - Familiarity with other 3D systems (CATIA, SolidWorks), 2D software (AutoCAD preferred), and Autodesk Revit a plus. - Familiarity with ASME Y14 - Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of software. - Demonstrated experience leading small groups of designers. - Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, equipment datasheets and design record documents. - Understanding of welding, machining, and fabrication techniques and processes. - An understanding of launch vehicle and space vehicle systems requirements with launch vehicle GSE and ground systems are a plus. - Previous experience with NASA, DOE, DoD, or commercial aerospace projects are a plus. - Experience in the Aerospace Ground Support Equipment market segments a plus. - Hands-on experience with our typical equipment a plus. - Local candidate preferred.   Physical Requirements - The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   Work Environment  This job operates in a professional office environment.
