Sr. Mechanical Equipment Engineer I Introduction Merrick is seeking an experienced Sr. Mechanical Equipment Engineer to join a team of engineering and design personnel serving the Nuclear Services & Technology Business Unit. This position can be located at our project offices in: Greenwood Village CO, Oak Ridge TN, Merritt Island FL, and/or Albuquerque NM. This dynamic multi-discipline engineering group specializes in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment and custom-designed, remotely operated mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials.   Job Description - The Senior Mechanical Engineer I will serve as a lead engineer for small teams of engineers and designers within the equipment design group and interface with other disciplines (electrical, I&C, structural, and process). - This individual is a degreed engineer capable of managing multiple tasks. Tasks include the design of containment systems (gloveboxes, containment hoods), material handling systems, equipment integration and installation, and preparation of fabrication drawings, specifications, datasheets, acceptance test plans and calculations. - The successful candidate will delegate work to other engineers and designers and will check their work on projects. Additionally, the candidate will assist and develop design criteria, manage work scope, schedule, and budgets. Key Responsibilities - Lead multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and designers. - Serve as Engineer of Record on mechanical equipment designs. - Follow regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures. - Detailed design activities include preparation of fabrication drawing packages, equipment datasheets, fabrication specifications, procurement specifications, engineering studies, test plans, and detailed equipment sizing & qualification calculations. - Responsibilities include planning, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of design work; presenting design reviews to clients; and providing shop support during fabrication and testing. Project Manager – Government Projects   Introduction Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a team working on challenging, innovative projects within our High Performance Facilities Business Unit to open a new Merrick office in Huntsville, AL. This is a remote position, not located in a Merrick office and will be telework at this time.    Duties  Responsible for maintaining client satisfaction and profitability for projects; primary area of work is with military and government clients with construction budgets up to $50 million. Meets with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work. Prepares fee proposals for full-service design work. Once the proposal is accepted, establishes documents and electronic media files for internal accounting and storage of technical data. Establishes project design budget and schedule. Meets with individual disciplines to ensure an understanding of the scope of work. Ensures internal communication and coordination of design efforts occurs and schedules are met. Prepares all external communication and invoices. Reviews design documents for conformance to company standards and compliance with client’s scope of work.   Requirements - Extensive knowledge in working with the Huntsville Center, MDA, NASA, and related contracting organizations. - Must have demonstrated success in Marketing and Business Development professional engineering services in the Huntsville, AL area. - Must be capable of directing and managing a multi-discipline team of design engineers or technicians on government projects. - Will be expected to provide input to and participate in strategic planning for the team. - Work closely with Business Unit management team to identify growth, project delivery, staffing and financial performance. - Candidate must have a Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited institution in Engineering or Geotechnical Sciences. Alternatively, a Masters degree of Architecture from an accredited institution will be considered. - Professional licensure (PE/RA) is strongly desired. - LEED Accreditation and PMP is desired. - A minimum of twelve (12) years of combined experience in designing and managing medium to large sized multi-discipline projects. - Position requires proficiency with designing Military and Government full-service projects. - Must be proficient in managing clients, project management for A-E firms, managing to fee and demonstrate skills to lead multi-discipline teams. - Candidates must have proficiency with MS Office and MS Project. - Experience managing full-service design projects in Revit BIM across multiple offices is preferred. - Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. - Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility based on investigation current within the last four years is preferred.  - Polygraph (CI or Full Scope) current within 5 years is preferred.   - Relocation will be considered as well as telecommute. There is the potential for this position to become Full Time. 100% field work.   Job Description The Construction Engineer works for a project manager and/or project engineer as the civil designer and to perform constructability reviews of designs and construction drawings. This position would also provide construction administration and observation services for various utilities, including water and sewer pipelines, water and wastewater treatment plants, other water or wastewater facilities, drainage structures and facilities and includes the ability to self-perform said services, and to proficiently manage and schedule other engineers, designers, and construction observation personnel. Senior Laboratory Architect   Introduction: Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Laboratory Architect with strong skills in Containment Laboratory design. The position is could be located in near any of the Merrick U.S. or Canadian offices, or could also be remote (telecommute) with travel to client sites and Merrick offices.    Job Description: The candidate shall have the following skills and experience:  - Candidate shall be experienced in all aspects of Laboratory design and general architectural practice including planning, programming, schematic design, production of construction documents (drawings and specifications), and construction administration. - Candidate shall have a working knowledge of current building codes and contemporary methods of heavy commercial, institutional and industrial construction, with particular knowledge of laboratory design guidelines and standards.  Knowledge of international laboratory design standards is required. - Candidate shall have the ability to design complex laboratory and architectural facilities and have a working knowledge of engineering systems and their integration into these facilities. - Candidate shall be knowledgeable in the capabilities of BIM software. - Candidate shall have fifteen years or more of CL/BSL 3 and 4 containment laboratory design. - Proficiency in use of Revit and AutoCAD is required - Candidate shall have excellent verbal and writing skills and be able to interact effectively with clients and other employees and must have strong oral presentation skills. - Candidate shall be capable of providing leadership to a support staff in production of architectural designs in multi-discipline work environment and must be capable of acting as Supervisory Architect to mentor and assist other staff in acquiring architectural registrations - Candidate will be responsible for successful execution of projects, which may include profit and loss accountability, quality of work, meeting of schedules and management of project teams. - Candidate must be able to travel and must possess a current passport.
