Scientist – Microbiology and Virology   Introduction Merrick is seeking an experienced Scientist with a background in microbiology, virology, or related field and experience in containment (BSL3) laboratory programs under a Scientist to support biorepository characterization and inventory assessments, and day-to-day science functions at our client site, Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC), New York. Electrical Designer I – High Performance Facility (HPF)  - Electrical Utility Distribution Design   Introduction Merrick & Company is looking for an Electrical Designer I-High Performance Facility (HPF) for our growing San Antonio, TX office. This office specializes in Federal, State and Local Government electrical design projects including medium voltage power, gas distribution, and facility electrical systems. This is a full time position.   Job Responsibilities Work involves a variety of activities including conceptual and detailed design / documentation of medium voltage power distribution including 15kV and 35kV of overhead and underground lines, service transformers, and electrical service to industrial, commercial and residential properties. Experience of the NESC, CPS Energy or other utility’s standards, experience with 15kV and 35kV design for overhead and or underground systems, NEC as applicable for over 1000V design, field investigations and construction support is desirable. Candidate shall be capable of performing fundamental electrical calculations, electrical system design and documentation assignments under the supervision of licensed engineers. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and technical writing skills. Knowledge of GIS as a design tool is highly desired but not required. Experience with NFPA Codes such as NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) is desirable.   This position may require up to six months reporting to the client’s office (either 1604/Green Mountain Rd or I-35/Zarzamora St) for work. You can be a crucial person in a key Merrick growth initiative in Transportation and Public Works working on long term, interesting projects.    Job Description The Project Manager must be capable of marketing, directing and managing a team of engineers and technicians on transportation and public works projects including urban and rural roadways, interstate highways, shared-use trails, and transportation-related public works projects. The position will work interactively with other teams responsible for surveying and mapping and related civil engineering practices including utilities and storm water engineering. This position requires the ability to not only be proficient in the technical work but to also manage project schedules, budgets, and interface with multi-disciplinary teams of architects and engineers. Sr. Mechanical Equipment Engineer – Technical Lead (#LI-CC1)   Job Description The Senior Mechanical Engineer Discipline Representative will serve as a lead professional engineer for a team of engineers and designers within the equipment design discipline group. This individual is a degreed and licensed professional engineer who can manage multiple tasks while supervising a team of engineers and designers. Tasks include the design of containment systems (gloveboxes, hoods), material handling systems, equipment integration and installation, and preparation of fabrication and installation drawings, specifications, datasheets and calculations. The area offers a wealth of outdoor activities, a family-friendly community, an excellent public school system and a low crime rate.   Scope/Key Responsibilities The Project Engineer will work in a dynamic multi-discipline environment, designing systems and equipment for non-reactor nuclear facilities. The individual will direct a multi-disciplined team of engineers and designers, and serve as the primary technical interface with clients, project management, and procurement professionals. The Project Engineer serves as a liaison between the Project Manager and technical disciplines and is responsible for: - Assisting the Project Manager with managing scope, schedule and cost - Leading design activities and managing design deliverables - Ensuring client satisfaction and working closely with the client's technical team - Coordinating engineering disciplines and managing discipline interfaces - Managing project resources, managing technical changes and expediting scheduled activities Required Experience - Minimum ten (10) years of engineering experience and five (5) years in Project Engineering - Background in nuclear facility design and engineering - Experience with DOE or NNSA projects - Experience with nuclear quality assurance standards - Experience with supervising engineers and designers - Experience with Microsoft Office and Scheduling Software (e.g. MS Office, Primavera) - Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills - Degree Requirements:   Bachelor of Sciences in Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program - Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. - Ability to acquire and willingness to acquire a government cleared is required. - Certifications: Professional licensure is highly desired. - Relocation will be considered.
