Civil Water Engineer II - Surface Water/Urban Stormwater Engineering    Introduction Merrick & Company is seeking a Civil Engineer II in our Surface Water/Urban Stormwater Engineering Infrastructure team. The position will be located in either our Denver, CO, Greenwood Village, CO,  or Loveland, CO locations and will include some travel to other Merrick offices to support the growing practice.   Job Description - Perform assignments in the analysis and design of river, drainageway, and urban stormwater systems. - Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports and work products.  - Perform design tasks, prepare bid documents including drawings and specifications, and organizing all drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables, with supervision from project managers and senior staff.   - Must become knowledgeable of Merrick procedures, understand them and be able to apply them when required.  - Candidate must be capable of making sound engineering decisions, exercise initiative, judgment and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.  - The successful candidate must possess good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with clients and Local, State, and Federal government agencies and be capable to lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communications. - Additional duties may involve project management for projects. - Some travel may be required. - Field/construction activities may be required.  Required Experience - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. - Minimum four (4) - eight (8) years plus experience in the design and construction oversight of surface water and urban stormwater systems, or in land development, or related field of civil engineering. - Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship. - Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS Systems preferred. - CADD and HEC-RAS experience desired - Public works design experience with local, State and Federal governments preferred - Land development experience a plus  - Strong written and verbal communications skills - Kayak and rafting experience preferred to support our specialized whitewater recreation team. - Ability to produce well-coordinated civil design documents  - Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality. Electrical Engineer II – Life Science (LS) Business Unit - Facility Design   Introduction We are seeking a full time Electrical Engineer for our Kanata office, supporting our Life Science (LS) business unit.  This office specializes in the design of facilities and related power systems for Government and private clients. Work assignments include electrical design for power generation, facilities, renovations, research labs, multi-purpose buildings and electrical systems.  An agreed upon hybrid schedule, working from both home and office, is available to employees in good standings.   Job Description Work involves facility design, site power design, and power analysis/studies. This position requires excellent communication skills for critical facility electrical design.  Project work involves a variety of activities including conceptual and detailed design of low voltage (1000V and lower) power distribution, security and access control system, power generation systems (backup power and prime power), grounding and lightning protection systems, lighting systems, and motor control systems.  Additionally, experience with facility voice/data communication cabling systems, fire alarm, security access control and security systems are desired.  Work also includes developing specifications, field investigations and construction support. Perform engineering and design assignments with minimal direction.  Exercise independent design and engineering judgment with collaboration from senior engineers.  Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is highly desired.  Must be able to work in a team of supporting electrical engineers and designers to execute design projects. Mechanical Equipment Engineer II   Introduction Merrick & Company is looking for an experienced Mechanical Equipment Engineer for Los Alamos, NM office to serve as a staff engineer on technology projects for the Department of Energy (DOE).  This group specializes in the design of prototype/one-off custom equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, specialty research equipment and custom-designed mechanisms for handling radioactive and hazardous materials. This is a full time position.   This position is located in Los Alamos, a small community located in the scenic high desert of Northern New Mexico. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing custom solutions, mentoring a team, and the outdoor life style of Northern New Mexico.   Job Description The Mechanical Engineer II will perform detailed design and analysis of custom equipment, individually and as part of design team. Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hoods), material handling equipment, small scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, rolling machines) and pressure vessels.   Scope/Key Responsibility Follow regimented quality assurance / quality control procedures.
